The role
Our Heretaunga village in Upper Hutt is looking for an experienced and compassionate General Manager to lead our dedicated team.
This is a key leadership role where you’ll shape the experience of our residents, their families/whānau, and your team - creating a community where people feel safe, valued, and truly at home.
What you’ll be doing
As General Manager, you will lead a team committed to delivering exceptional, person-centred care and meaningful everyday experiences for our residents.
You’ll be responsible for the overall performance of the site, including clinical, operational, and financial outcomes. But first and foremost, you’ll ensure that care, dignity, and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do.
In this role, you will:
Lead and support a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care and services
Foster a positive, inclusive culture where staff feel valued and supported
Ensure clinical care is delivered in line with best practice and Oceania’s model of care
Build strong relationships with residents and their families/whānau
Create a warm, welcoming environment where residents feel at home
Work closely with your Clinical Manager and Regional Clinical Manager to maintain excellent clinical standards
Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure the village runs smoothly and safely
Take ownership of occupancy, financial performance, and sustainability of the site
Continuously look for ways to improve the resident experience
What you’ll bring
You’re a people-first leader who genuinely cares about making a difference.
You’ll bring a balance of clinical understanding, leadership capability, and commercial awareness, along with the ability to build trust and inspire those around you.
Ideally, you will have:
Experience in aged care or healthcare at a management level
A clinical background (preferred) or strong understanding of clinical governance
Proven leadership experience building and developing high-performing teams
A strong focus on delivering quality care and exceptional resident experiences
Financial acumen, with experience managing budgets and performance
The ability to build meaningful relationships with residents, families, and stakeholders
A calm, solutions-focused approach and the ability to make sound decisions
A genuine passion for aged care and improving the lives of others
