About the role

We're looking for an experienced People and Culture Business Partner to join the team for an 11-month fixed-term opportunity, reporting directly to our Chief People Officer.

Based in our beautiful office in Auckland CBD, this is a hands-on partnering role with a strong Employment Relations focus. With over 30 sites nationwide, you’ll work alongside leaders to navigate complex people matters with confidence, fairness and sound judgement – from investigations and restructures through to mediation, collective matters and organisational change.

Ultimately, you'll help ensure our people practices are consistent, practical, aligned with our values and support Oceania to manage people risk well.

What you'll do

• Provide expert advice, leadership and sound judgement on complex Employment Relations matters across Oceania.

• Lead high-risk investigations, restructures, mediations and other complex employment matters, including collective bargaining where appropriate.

• Partner with and coach leaders to build their confidence and capability in managing employment and people matters.

• Provide practical advice that balances employment law, organisational risk, commercial considerations and positive people outcomes.

• Develop and improve policies, frameworks and practical guidance to strengthen consistency and minimise organisational risk.

• Identify trends, emerging risks and opportunities to continuously improve Employment Relations and people practices across Oceania.

• Support organisational change and transformation with a pragmatic, people-centred approach.

• Work collaboratively across the People & Culture team to deliver initiatives that strengthen leadership capability, culture and employee experience.

• Champion Oceania's values and support safe, inclusive and high-performing teams.

What you'll bring

• Extensive Employment Relations experience.

• Deep knowledge of New Zealand employment law, investigations, mediation and dispute resolution.

• Experience working in a large, fast-paced operational environment, ideally across multiple locations.

• Experience within a unionised environment, including exposure to collective employment matters.

• Strong commercial judgement and the ability to balance legal and organisational risk with practical business outcomes.

• The confidence and credibility to influence, coach and challenge leaders at all levels.

• Demonstrated experience leading complex investigations, restructures and other sensitive employment processes.

• A collaborative and pragmatic approach, with a genuine interest in building leader capability and improving how organisations work.

• Curiosity about technology and AI, and how these can support better People & Culture outcomes.
