At Oceania, we believe in reimagining retirement and aged care living in New Zealand. At Waterford in Hobsonville, our café is a vibrant hub where residents, families and visitors come together. We are seeking an experienced Café Assistant who enjoys working in a busy hospitality environment and takes pride in delivering exceptional service.

This is a 26-hour per week position, rostered Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. While the days are fixed, there may be opportunities to increase hours in the future as the business grows.

The Role

As Café Assistant, you will help create a welcoming and high-quality café experience for our residents and guests.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing and serving high-quality coffee and beverages

• Providing warm, professional front-of-house service

• Assisting with cabinet food preparation and presentation

• Supporting smooth café operations during busy service periods

• Maintaining food safety and hygiene standards

• Assisting with general kitchen and café duties

What You’ll Bring

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Current front-of-house hospitality experience in a fast-paced café or similar environment

• Strong barista skills and confidence operating a coffee machine during busy periods (a recognised barista qualification is advantageous)

• Proven customer service experience within hospitality

• The ability to multitask and manage your time effectively

• A positive, team-focused attitude

• Availability to work the fixed roster of Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday

• Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand

We are looking for someone who understands café service standards and can confidently step into a busy service environment while maintaining warmth and professionalism.
