Our residents are at the center of everything we do at The Helier, and we’re looking for a Chef de Partie to assist our Executive Chef with day-to-day operations of the kitchen.
It is necessary you have:
- A passion for cooking and serving meals that not only look great but taste amazing
- A completed culinary apprenticeship, or equivalent experience
- Excellent customer and people relationship skills
- Safe food hygiene handling certificates Safe Food NZQA 167, 168, 20666 or 27955
- A positive 'can do attitude', always ready to go the extra mile.
- A team first attitude.
- Strong time management and leadership skills - you're someone who takes ownership and accountability.
- Respect for resident confidentiality.
- The ability to work rostered shifts.
You will be responsible for:
- Being familiar with daily and ongoing menus, functions, specials etc.
- Offering ideas for new dishes and, when invited, submit new menu items.
- Actively seeking information and advice from senior Chefs to ensure consistency and to grow your own skills.
- Ensure individual responsibilities are ready to meet daily, function and special requirements.
- Ensure the necessary stocks are on hand at the right quality and quantity.
- Ensure each component of a dish prepared is up to standard, properly cooked and delivered on time.
- Follow recipes and instructions carefully.
- Clean preparation and service areas daily.
- Be familiar with and follow the Food Control Plan.
- Follow all set standards.
- Inform Senior Chefs of any short falls in stock or ordering needed for the next day.
- Prepare and cook raw materials to the required standard.
- Prepare and cook appropriate amounts of stock to meet demand but avoid waste.
- Ensure all statutory, as well as establishment, hygiene regulations are strictly adhered to.
- Ensure all maintenance problems are promptly reported to Head or Sous Chef.
- Delivering top class customer service to a high standard and quality
- Supporting the provisions of foodservice operations under the direction of senior management.
- Constantly learning and developing your skills/knowledge
