Could you be our next ER star?
We're looking for a motivated and experienced Employment Relations Specialist or a business partner with a strong penchant for ER to join the People & Culture team Oceania Healthcare where we have big ambitions and an even bigger heart.
Reporting directly to the GM People & Culture, you will be our employment law guru. You'll be part of the lead team helping to design our people and ER strategies including designing, planning, & implementing fabulous people policies which empower our people to believe in better outcomes for residents.
You will be an excellent relationship builder as you will be the "go to" person for our people leaders when it comes to all things ER, like providing guidance and advice on employment investigations or complaints, providing pragmatic advice, based on relevant legislation, business requirements and our people policies. You'll be their coach and they will love it when you make their lives easier.
What we're looking for?
We're a small team so this is not the role for a newbie. We're ideally looking for someone with 5 years plus in ER, employment law. The industry you've come from matters less than your ability to learn on the fly and to write and communicate clearly and with heart. Previous union or bargaining experience would be super helpful as you'll be our lead on that. And you will have managed cases, designed and delivered ER training and be able to build our leader's capability. Our industry is regulated so the ability to understand regulations and interpret them into plain English is important.

What you can expect from us
We're building the People & Culture team pretty much from scratch so you'll get a truck load of exposure, mentoring and the opportunity to really influence the way we operate. There will be the potential to move into business partnering or other roles once this function is set up. Opportunities abound if you exude passion and excel at what you do. We've got a fantastic CEO who lives and breathes our purpose and who truly believes that our people make the difference. That makes our lives so much easier as people professionals. We're a really successful business in a growing, secure and a way-more-interesting-than-you-ever-thought industry!

If you asked our staff, they would tell a story that’s not often shared. A tale of dedication, knowledge and putting in the mahi, to care for those who once cared for you and me.
Every person in our team lives by the following values:
We are a people business and we recognise that the passion of our staff is key to delivering outstanding care to our residents.
Our boutique offerings ensure that we can provide a very personalised experience for all our residents – both in village and care.
That makes us special and unique.
We provide industry leading learning and development programmes for all our staff and we have a strong focus on career progression for all.
We also have an employee share scheme which is available to all our staff after being employed with us for one year.
To celebrate International Nurses Day, we launched ‘In Their Shoes’ – a celebration of our dedicated and clinically skilled nurses who work at the forefront of New Zealand’s aged care sector.
‘In Their Shoes’ acknowledges not just the kindness and compassion that our nurses bring to every day, but more importantly, their knowledge, commitment and professionalism.
To mark the day, each of our frontline nurses were gifted a pair of bespoke Allbirds, with a specially crafted message in the insoles of what it’s like to walk a day in their shoes – a token of our respect for the work that they do.
But this doesn’t stop with our current nurses. Every nurse who becomes part of our team will be gifted a pair of bespoke Allbirds, with a specially crafted message in the insoles of what it’s like to walk a day in the shoes of an aged care nurse. We’re always looking for dedicated and skilled nurses across New Zealand.
